Cracked open PCGS Holder
PCGS is not giving us a way of determining if a slab is real or not.
I was at an auction and bought a group of PCGS slabs cheap. I cracked out the silver and sold it so I could look at the construction of the Slabs. Check out the pictures below.
You will notice the Top Cover -1 (Cert # Side) snaps into the Bottom Cover-2 (Hologram Side). The edge of the Bottom Cover has a slight back angle-4 on it which allows a tight fit to the top cover. The arrow-3 points to a groove around the bottom cover where it is sonically welded.
Hope this helps you identify a good PCGS holder? I have seen Counterfeit Holders which I think had this identical construction (I was not able to break open to confirm).
