knee replacement in Aventura
Hospital on May 23rd. After that I'll be in Rehab for a couple of weeks because
I'm all alone now.  Please let everyone know & I'll be back with a new knee.

About Richard White: Richard White's Mass & WakeOn May 24th at 3:30 there will be a Mass held for Richard White & Rosemary Starkey (his Mother-in-Law) then everyone will move into the hall where there will be a Celebration of Dick's life. It is a BYOB event an "Irish Wake". It will be at St. David's Church on University just south of Nova Medical School

Steve Schor will present a talk and exhibit examples of "Red Book" Early American Colonial Coinage.  He will introduce this area of collecting  with a 15 min. summary of the coinage & where you can find more info.  See:

Short Program - Large Auction

Auction at each meeting -Lots of free parking Volunteer Park Center 

People arrive at 6:00 P.M. to talk & trade coins.

 Fort Lauderdale Coin Club has its meetings (2nd & 4th Thurs. nights).

 Attendance is usually about 50 People. The auction, which is held every meeting, is very active with a good selection or cross-section of numismatic material. Denny, Fred, Bob, Milt, William & Jaci are their usual efficient selves in setting up and making this auction happen. The President (Denny Thostenson) is presiding over the meetings.

Harry Schwartz does a 1/2 Hr Seminar on Beginning Coin Collecting for Young Numismatists. He does an introduction for kids & parents who are interested in coin collecting. This is a good way to introduce the many facets of coin collecting and we plan to continue this at each show. (Thanks Lou Kleinman & others for the Coins Harry gives out to the Kids.)

We split the room in two with the sliding curtain to allow the people who did not want to hear the presentation, to talk and trade coins in one area, while the DVD is being shown in another area. We start the DVD at 6:30, this allows us to do the 1 hour presentation before 7:30. Hope you make the next meeting.
